Together with Workforce at the Forefront

Work Ready Communities (WRCs) help students and job seekers develop the skills employers need. Using industry-recognized credentials, WRCs create clear career pathways while helping businesses find qualified candidates.

Monroe County is exploring WRC certification, and educators play a key role. By integrating skills-based credentialing, schools can better prepare students for in-demand careers.

Evaluating and Certifying Skills

The ACT WorkKeys Assessments measure essential workplace skills, including:
  • Applied Math – Using mathematical reasoning for workplace problems
  • Graphic Literacy – Understanding and analyzing workplace graphics
  • Workplace Documents – Reading and applying written information on the job
Students earn the National Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC) at four levels (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum), validating their workforce readiness. This credential bridges classroom learning to career success and can serve as an alternative to traditional assessments.

By attending, your school may even be equipped to receive a NCRC Jumpstart Kit, enabling a small group of students to benefit from deeper learning related to the WorkKeys assessments, courtesy of Monroe County Industrial Development Corporation (MCIDC).

Help the Region Get to Work

Educators, counselors and workforce professionals are key to preparing students for success. By attending this event, you will:
  • Learn how WorkKeys and the NCRC benefit students
